I cannot speak highly enough of the way Alan Curtis and his colleagues have supported me. The Firm ticks all the boxes. Compensation from a local hospital was sought because, after I broke my hip in October 2020, the ward nursing staff failed to move me regularly. The result was a pressure sore on my heel, leading to my being in hospital for an extended period of seven weeks. Once I was home, regular visits for the next four months from the local District Nurses were needed before the pressure sore eventually healed. Having written a formal letter of complaint to the hospital's Clinical Director, I contacted Alan's practice. In that first telephone call, Alan listened carefully, inspired confidence, explained the likely way forward; and possible outcome and timescale, though warning me that I must exercise patience. And, importantly, he set out the Firm’s Terms and Conditions - No Win, No Fee. If successful, the Firm takes 25% of the sum awarded. If unsuccessful, no charge. Alan assured me that the distance between us would be no impediment - they are in Monmouth, Wales, and I am in Hampshire - and indeed it was never a problem. Correspondence and discussions ensued, and I was constantly kept in the picture. In due course, the hospital made an offer of £10000 which initially I was inclined to accept; but Alan said that, in his experience, this was just a starting point. So Alan Curtis formally asked for £18000, and just before Christmas the hospital came back with a revised figure of £15000, which, on Alan's advice, we accepted. The net sum, once the Practice Fee had been subtracted, was paid into my account by BACS yesterday (13 January 2022) by the Firm - that is, about nine months after my first contact with Alan Curtis Solicitors.
